A young man who had applied to be an employee at the Denver International Airport is facing charges by federal prosecutors. The 20-year-old man is accused of lying about prior convictions on his employment application. Prosecutors allege that the man, T.K., intentionally answered "no" on the portion of his application which asked if the applicant had been convicted of certain criminal offenses such as drug crimes or weapons offenses. T.K.'s criminal record indicates that he has been convicted of a felony involving the illegal possession of a controlled substance as well as a conviction for the unlawful possession, use, sale, distribution, or manufacture of an explosive or weapon. Federal prosecutors have charged T.K. with making false statements in an effort to gain access to the airport's secure areas. While it is acknowledged that there were no terrorist motives behind T.K.'s alleged actions, it is suspected that there may have been other motives. Speak with a criminal defense lawyer immediately if you are being investigated for or have been charged with a federal crime.
Federal Charges May Mean Severe Penalties
Offenses involving airports, federal property, kidnapping, fraud, embezzlement, drug trafficking and others which may include alleged activities which cross state lines often result in federal charges. Federal crimes are generally handled by very tenacious prosecutors with greater resources than those at the state level. A conviction can mean many years in federal prison and thousands or even millions in fines and restitution depending on the exact nature of the charges.
