Teen Shot in Gang Assault Incident

An eighteen-year-old was shot recently when gunfire rang out during a confrontation between two groups of teens outside a popular youth center and school. The young man who was later shot, K.T., was on his way to play some basketball with some friends at a local youth center. He and his friends were approached by a group of teens around 5pm and the situation became heated. A police officer arrived on the scene and seemed to dissipate the tense confrontation. K.T. and his friends continued on to their destination. A few minutes later as the group was nearly at the school's gym, they were again confronted by the other group of teens whose number had now increased to fifteen individuals. One of the opposing group members produced a gun and opened fire. K.T. was hit by a bullet in the shoulder while he attempted to escape the scene. He was taken to a local hospital where he was in stable condition.

No immediate arrests were made and authorities have not issued any statement as to whether or not this was an organized gang attack.
