Most people are familiar with the organization MADD which stands for Mothers Against Drunk Drivers. It has been active in educating people on the dangers of drunk driving for years and was started by a woman whose child was killed by a drunk driver.
Just a few weeks ago the former president Debra Oberlin was arrested for suspicion of DUI after officers observed her swerving into other lanes while driving. She submitted to a breathalyzer test and results showed that she had three times the legal limit of alcohol in her blood. Anyone, regardless of who they are, needs to consult with an experienced
criminal defense attorney if they have been charged with DUI.
Take Immediate Action
DUI charges can be quite serious and need to be addressed quickly to avoid conviction, even if this is your first offense. If convicted, you could be facing time in jail, monetary fines, mandatory counseling, vehicle impoundment, having to have an interlocking ignition device installed in your car and suspension or loss of your driver's license. You have ten days to schedule an administrative hearing with the Department of Motor Vehicles regarding the suspension of your driver's license, a separate action to the criminal trial itself.
