Last month, a probation officer pled guilty before a U.S. District Court judge and admitted to violating the constitutional rights to bodily integrity of his victims by engaging in sexual conduct or aggravated sexual abuse with female offenders under his direct supervision. As a probation officer, the offenses occurred between the years 2006 to 2009. He is scheduled for sentencing in July of 2011.
He violated his authority as a probation officer and his victim's civil rights by willfully kissing and touching them without their consent in order to gratify his own sexual desires. He forced one victim to have intercourse with him while visiting her home as part of his official duties. The victims did not report the violations as they thought no one would believe them and they knew that he had the power to incarcerate or punish them in some other manner as their probation officer.
Suggested Penalties for the Crimes
It is suggested under the plea agreement that he be sentenced to ten years in prison as well as five years supervised release and registry as a sex offender. The judge will have the authority to accept or reject the recommended sentencing.
