Suspects Arrested In Pennsylvania, Ohio, Kentucky, Missouri And Other States

According to court documents unsealed on Tuesday, a federal indictment has been issued against multiple members of an alleged crime ring stretching across the nation.

The allegations name eighteen men in seven different states, charging them with involvement in racketeering, kidnapping, robbery, drug distribution, and at least three counts of murder. A coordinated sting operation led to the capture of fifteen of the eighteen suspects, law enforcement officials claim, with police hot on the trail of the remaining three individuals.

“The significance of today’s arrests is not just the fact that these members are considered the most violent of the group,” an FBI agent told reporters in St. Louis, where the investigation is headquartered.

“Today’s nationwide takedown,” he emphasized, “has disrupted and dismantled the Wheels of Soul Motorcycle Outlaw Gang by targeting the senior leaders.”

Prosecutors Prepare To Square Off Against Defense Lawyers In Legal Battle

As the District Attorney’s Offices involved in the federal case prepare themselves for the coming case, the defense team readies their own arguments on behalf of their clients.

According to the indictment, the prosecution alleges that the gang was based primarily in Philadelphia, but had chapter branches in multiple cities and states. Three murders have been associated with members of the group; one shooting of a rival gang member in St. Louis, one in Chicago, and a shooting spree that took one life in Marion, Ohio.

One defense lawyer for the lead defendant, a man alleged to be the ‘vice-president’ of the syndicate, argues that police have no factual evidence against his client, describing him as ‘clean as a whistle.’ The 62-year old suspect is being detained without bond in a Philadelphia jail, an act the criminal defense attorney says is unwarranted due to his lack of a criminal record.

Prosecutors claim that they have evidence of several meetings in St. Louis between members of the gang discussing their criminal activities.
