A Texas man recently received harsh sentencing for what turned out to be a 5th DWI conviction. The judge gave 59-year-old S.H. 45 years in prison with the possibility of parole after about 11 years. The man chose to represent himself in court. He was arrested after an officer pulled him over for failing to stop at an intersection. The policeman reported that A.S. said "I'm so under arrest" as the officer came up to the driver. A.S. also told the officer that he had had two beers earlier and that he was guilty. A BAC (blood alcohol concentration) test that was conducted two hours after he was taken into custody was at .18—over twice the legal limit. A.S. had previously served numerous other imprisonment sentences for DWI and had been sentenced for 20 years for aggravated robbery. If he is paroled after 11 years of his current sentence he will be 70 years old. Charged with felony DWI in the Plano area? Speak with a DWI lawyer immediately to ensure your rights are protected!
