A 67-year-old man employed by Cobb County Schools at the time was arrested after crashing the school bus he was driving into another vehicle. The driver, J.G., was transporting a group of children to their elementary school on a recent morning when the incident happened. There were 23 children on board when the driver rear-ended a car that was stopped at a red light on the Holly Springs Road and Sewell Mill Road intersection at about 7:30 a.m. Authorities and paramedics arrived but luckily there were no injuries. An officer interviewing J.G. became suspicious that the driver was under the influence after reportedly noticing that his face was flushed and he smelled the "slight odor of alcoholic beverage about his person". J.G. submitted to a breathalyzer test which registered a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) above the 0.08 percent legal limit. Reports did not state the exact BAC result obtained from the breathalyzer test but he was taken into custody and subsequently charged with a number of offences. He was released later in the day on $2,300 bond. He will appear in court in April on charges of DUI and DUI involving child endangerment. He was also cited for following too closely. The 67-year-old man chose to resign from his position with Cobb County schools rather than face termination. Have you been accused of DUI?
