Houston authorities recently arrested four people in connection with a location where crystal methamphetamine was allegedly being manufactured. Reports do not indicate how officers were alerted to the possible presence of a meth lab at the location but officers arrived at the home on County Road 22 and took four people at the residence into custody. A 44-year-old man and a 20-year-old man were each charged with felony first degree manufacturing of methamphetamine and held in jail in lieu of $175,000 bail. A third man, 50 years old, was allegedly found in possession of several drugs including meth and Alprazolam (without a prescription). This man was charged with felony unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of prescription medication. The fourth individual, a 41-year-old woman was taken into custody because she had a toddler with her at the location. She was charged with felony chemical endangerment to a child. Consult with a drug crimes attorney right away if you have been charged with a controlled substance charge.
About Controlled Substance Charges and Penalties
Manufacture of a controlled substance charge is very serious and can result in severe penalties if you are convicted. Methamphetamine is a Penalty Group 1 substance which means charges associated with this drug can result in a state jail felony. A conviction for manufacturing less than half a pound of meth can result in 15 years to life behind bars and up to $250,000 in fines. Possession charges may be slightly less severe but if an individual is accused of being in possession of amounts of meth with intent to distribute or sell then the penalties may be equivalent to manufacture charges. Whether you are facing misdemeanor or felony drug charges you should get experienced legal help immediately.
