As reported by the Associated Press for Yahoo News, former "survivor" TV producer, Bruce Beresford-Redman, has been arrested and charged for the murder of his wife in Mexico seven months ago.
Federal agents arrested him in his Rancho Palos Verdes home without incident.
Court documents had information that Beresford-Redman had argued with his wife, Monica Beresford-Redman, while vacationing in Cancun. Blood was also discovered in their hotel room.
Beresford-Redman is expected to fight extradition in Mexico.
A U.S. magistrate reviewed documents showing that guests had reported to hotel security that they had overheard, "screams, crying for help and extremely loud banging from the room above."
Monica Beresford-Redman's body was later found in a Cancun sewer.
Traces of blood on the sheets, a pillar and balcony railing in the Beresford-Redman's hotel room - that they shared with their young children, a girl, five and a boy, three - was found by a forensic expert.
Bruce Beresford-Redman's attorney contends that his client is innocent. He is also arguing against his client's return to Mexico.
Richard G. Hirsh, Bruce Beresford-Redman's attorney, said, "Based upon our investigation, he is an innocent man being wrongfully accused by a foreign government. We hope that after full consideration of both sides, a federal court will decide not to extradite him."
Monica Beresford-Redman's family has been unhappy about the amount of time the investigation has taken so far, and have been very vocal about it. Their attorney has stated that the family doesn't expect it to see its completion for many more months.
Alison Triessl, attorney for Monica's family members said, "They know that this is not the end in their quest for justice for their sister Monica are prepared to pursue this horrific tragedy to the end."
An 11-page complaint listing the series of events leading up to Monica Beresford-Redman's death has been unsealed since Bruce Beresford-Redman's arrest.
The complaint begins by detailing that due to Monica's discovery of her husband having an affair, and her wish to divorce him, the couple decided to take a trip to Mexico in an attempt to reconcile their differences.
Once in Mexico, Bruce Beresford-Redman was allegedly seen trying to assault his wife by a hotel worker. When he was spotted, the worker reported, it prompted him to stop the attack.
A producer friend of Bruce Beresford-Redman's - who hadn't spoken to him for at least a year - recounted a strange phone call from him after the Mexico trip. The producer commented that in telling of his wife's disappearance, it sounded as if he was reading from a script.
Bruce Beresford-Redman left Mexico before a warrant was issued in May. He has since been to court only to manage custody issues for his son and daughter, and issues with his wife's estate.
Bruce Beresford-Redman's parents were granted permanent guardianship of the couple's two young children last week.
