CHP Discovers Bomb Equipment in Car

A routine traffic stop by the California Highway Patrol uncovered a homemade explosive device in Castroville last week. When CHP officer Robert Lehman pulled Daniel Walter Diamond, 19, over for speeding, they immediately smelled marijuana from inside the vehicle. Upon further inspection, they located a "device that was capable of destructive or explosive power" that could be described as a "homemade tennis ball bomb."

The Monterey County Sheriff's Office bomb squad was called to the scene to defuse the bomb.

Diamond was immediately arrested and booked into Monterey County Jail on suspicion of possession of a destructive device. A judge set his bail at $20,000.

It is still unclear as to what Diamond's intentions for the homemade device were and why he possessed it.

If you have been arrested for felony weapon crimes, don't rely on a court appointed attorney to take care of your case. Hire a criminal defense attorney to protect your legal rights and, if possible, reduce or eliminate altogether your case.
