Glendale, California - police say that 22 year old woman by the name of Nancy Salas may be faced with criminal charges after lying to officers and her family. Salas allegedly lied and said she was kidnapped in order to avoid having to tell her parents that she had dropped out of college.
After lying to her family, Salas submitted a false police report about being kidnapped. Now, she is facing misdemeanor charges and if she is convicted, she could be ordered to serve one year of jail time.
On May 12th, Salas went missing from her home, which led to a nationwide search. One day later, she was located 300 miles from her home. She told police that she had been kidnapped and sexually assaulted, but officers learned later that she ran away to avoid telling her parents about leaving UCLA over a year ago.
