In Hempstead, New York, it is being reported that four out of five suspects have been arrested in a
rape case. According to news sources, a student of Hofstra University was trying to retrieve her cell phone which had been stolen when she was lured into a male dormitory room this past Sunday. Once inside the room, Nassau County police say the student was sexually assaulted by five men. Only one of the five men was a Hofstra student.
On Tuesday, police arrested 4 of the men and charged them with rape and other criminal offenses. Police reports indicate that the 18 year old victim had attended a party at an on-campus nightclub. While she was dancing with one of the suspects, it is alleged that he snatched her cell phone and left the club with it. She followed him outside and repeatedly asked that he give her back her phone. However, instead of returning the victim's phone, he lured her into his dorm room, where she was raped.
Police say that the victim was bound with rope while two men assaulted her. Later, three other men entered the room. Instead of helping the girl, each man assaulted her one-by-one. At this time, police are not certain how long the incident lasted.
The student that was arrested is 21 year old Rondell Bedward of Bronx. Officers say that Bedward signed in the other four suspects as guests of his dorm room.
