Woman Faces Criminal Charges for Breast Feeding While Driving

A woman in Ohio has been charged with child endangerment after a motorist reported seeing the woman breast-feeding and talking on a cell phone while driving.

According to Officer Michael Burke, police used the license plate number provided by the motorist to track down 39-year-old Genine Compton.

When questioned, Compton told officers she was breast-feeding because she wouldn't let her child go hungry, according to Burke.

Burke said the legal concern isn't that Compton was breast-feeding her child in public, but that the child was in her lap while she was driving.

Compton stands to face up to 180 days in jail and a $1,800 fine if convicted of the offense.
