Mexican Men Face Felony Charges for Transporting Illegal Immigrants

Two Mexican men will face federal charges for transporting more than a dozen illegal immigrants.

According to court records, Lazaro Sandoval-Arreygue and Hector Escobar-Izaguire were transporting 15 passengers from California to Manhattan, Long Island, Georgia, and Ohio.

Sandoval-Arreygue only had Mexican identification cards to show the Indiana state trooper who pulled him over after he made an unsafe lane change.  He later told Immigration and Customs Enforcement that he knew he was transporting illegal aliens. Escobar-Izaguire admitted to ICE officials that he had entered the country illegally, and had previously been deported in February.

Three of the passengers in the van were charged with reentering the U.S. after being deported. Another three of the passengers will also face criminal charges as well.

All of the passengers paid between $150 and $2,000 to ride in the van.
