Just in from the New York Times - Investigators recently recovered the body parts of a 28 year-old female victim. The woman was found dismembered and her body parts were encased in cement in the basement of a house located in Teaneck, New Jersey.
The woman, identified as Jaritza Calderone, had been missing since this past Saturday. Police say that she was last heard from prior to going to her former boyfriend's apartment to pick up some items, personal belongings and a television set.
After Ms. Calderone's family reporting her missing on Sunday, police began to look for her former boyfriend, Julio Rolando Flores. Later on Sunday, a report came into 911 from the owner of the building in Teaneck (where Calderone's remains were found) who said that he saw Mr. Flores near the building and also said that Mr. Flores was behaving suspiciously.
Law enforcement believes that Mr. Flores
killed Ms. Calderone when she came to see him in his apartment. He then cut up her body and attempted to dispose of it in New Jersey. Police report that Mr. Flores was upset with Ms. Calderone for ending their relationship, so he decided to murder her.
At this time, Mr. Flores has been charged with
burglary and unlawful disposal of a human body by Bergen County prosecutors.
Paul J. Browne, the New York Police Department's chief spokesman, said, "He faces more serious charges back in New York."
