According to STLtoday.com, a Madison County mother was charged with a criminal offense after illegally being in a school zone to pick up her son from Mitchell Elementary School. The sheriff's office reports that the woman, named Carrie Wilson, is a 31 year old who is a registered sexual offender. As a sexual offender, it is illegal for the mother to be within 500 feet of any school when children are present.
The only way Carrie Wilson could be within close range of a school is if she had written authorization from the school, but she did not have such authorization, and could therefore not legally be on school property to pick up her son.
Wilson was charged with a
child pornography related crime when she was 19 years of age. The victim was 13 years old. Information on Wilson's offense can be found in the Illinois sex offender registry.
