Ohio.com reports that a 14 year old middle school student is facing
felony charges after bringing a knife to school. According to reports, the girl brought the knife to her school in the Stark County's Plain district in order to protect herself. Not only is the young girl facing felony criminal charges, but also expulsion from her school.
When it comes to
violent crimes and
weapon related crimes, the school district has a zero tolerance policy. Students are strictly forbidden from bringing any type of weapon to school.
Karen Vrabec, the district's spokeswoman, said that the student told law enforcement that she had, ''concerns surrounding the safety of her neighborhood . . . her intent was not to harm anyone at school".
Regardless of the 14 year olds' intentions, she still faces serious legal consequences and expulsion from Oakwood Middle School. Currently, the student is suspended for 10 days and must attend an expulsion hearing. No news yet on her criminal charges and further legal proceedings.
