A Nantucket man has been charged for allegedly kidnapping and sexually assaulting a nine-year-old girl. At his arraignment the defendant, Francisco Quijada, was charged with one count of child enticement and three counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14. The judge has set the bail at $15,000.
According to police reports the nine-year-old girl was playing with Quijada's two children at Essex Roads Park in Nantucket. Before leaving the park, Quijada invited the girl to his house for dinner. During the drive to Quijada's house, he allegedly sexually assaulted the girl. It is also reported that he assaulted the girl again at his home.
When Quijada offered the girl a ride home after dinner she refused, according to police. Instead, another person at Quijada's home put her on an NRTA shuttle. When the girl was dropped off at the bus hub, she flagged down a police officer and got a ride home. Once she had returned home, she informed her mother of the assault, who then contacted the police.
After an investigation, Quidaja was arrested at his home at 115A Hummock Pond Road in Nantucket. If convicted of the charges, Quidaja could face up to five years in prison and up to $5,000 in fines.
