According to news sources, a
sex crimes prosecutor who was accused of
raping a colleague this past May will be charged today, November 21st.
The prosecutor, 51 year old Michael Gresset of Martinez, is expected to be charged with alleged daytime rape of his colleague, a fellow deputy district attorney. The rape allegedly took place in Gresset's home on May 8th. At this time, Gresset's attorney is unsure of the charges his client will face, but expects that the charges will mirror prior accusations of rape, oral copulation, sodomy and penetration with a foreign object.
On October 2, law enforcement arrested Gresset after they learned of the allegation from the woman's supervisor. Due to the potential conflict between departments, the state agency took over the sex crime investigation.
Michael Gresset posted $1 million in bail last month and was released from police custody. He is scheduled for arraignment in court this morning.
Gesset has worked for the district attorney's office for 20 years and he has unsuccessfully ran for district attorney three times, most recently in 2002. After Gesset was arrested, he was placed on administrative leave by his employers.
At this time, Gresset's attorney claims that the accusations are in fact "bogus". He states that his client and the victim were involved romantically. However, he refused to go into detail about the extent of that relationship.
