Connecticut Woman Sexually Assaulted by Convicted Sex Offender

Recently, in New Haven, CT, a 49 year old convicted sex offender has been charged with
kidnapping and
sexual assault by local law enforcement.
The man, Robert Thompson, was arrested by New Haven police on Saturday at 1 AM for sexually assaulting a woman. Law enforcement reports that the woman was walking down Sherman Avenue when she was approached by Thompson. After speaking with one another, Thompson led the victim to his house. Once there, he proceeded to punch her in her face and then proceeded to sexually assault her repeatedly. He also restrained the woman so that she could not leave his house.
Once Thompson fell asleep, the woman was able to escape and immediately flagged down police. Officers went to Thompson's house only to find that he had already fled.
Detectives investigating the sex crime case were able to find Thompson at his temporary job. He was apprehended and placed under arrest without incident.
Robert Thompson is a registered sex offender in the state of Pennsylvania and he has been out of compliance with law enforcement since 2006. He is also out of compliance with the state of Connecticut.
