A man accused of being a gang leader and involved in drug distribution and weapons charges was recently sentenced at a Richmond federal court. The 36-year-old man, Q.B., admitted to several offenses as part of a plea deal arranged with federal prosecutors. Q.B. was one of several leaders of a gang with members throughout Virginia. He said the gang was tightly managed in order to distribute various drugs including crack cocaine. If a member did not properly perform drug distribution or sales duties then that member was subject to a "31-second beating" or other punitive action. Q.B. gave federal authorities other details concerning the gang including information about the two men in New York that he would regularly report to about drug distribution. If you are being investigated for a federal crime or have been accused of committing a federal offense then you need the help of a tough criminal defense lawyer immediately.
Plea Bargain Results in 30-Year Sentence
Q.B. pled guilty to federal charges including conspiracy to distribute crack cocaine and illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was sentenced to 30 years in prison. He faced the possibility of life in prison had he not agreed to the plea deal. Federal criminal accusations are taken very seriously and investigators and prosecutors have extensive resources at their disposal. Crimes of a certain nature or which cross state lines are handled by federal authorities. Examples of such offenses or charges include child pornography, certain sex crimes, drug distribution, RICO violations (racketeering), tax evasion, major fraud, human trafficking, arms trafficking, arson, counterfeiting, treason, espionage, terrorism, kidnapping and others.
