A local woman was taken into custody shortly after she reported to police that she had been the victim of domestic violence. Authorities allege that she would use dating websites to meet men and then steal property from them. In this case, investigators believe she met up with a man through a dating website and then later reported him for domestic abuse using a false identity. While police had the man in custody, it is alleged that the woman used the opportunity to break into his house and commit burglary. If you or someone you care about has been charged with domestic violence anywhere in L.A. County, it is crucial that you get the skilled defense representation of a Los Angeles domestic violence attorney as soon as possible.
Police Suspect Woman of a Number of Fraud and Theft Crimes
Detectives became suspicious of the supposed domestic violence victim after inconsistencies were discovered in her report and certain fingerprints turned up at the accused man's home. The prints matched up to those connected to several other theft crime cases going back to 2009. Police suspect that the woman has been using stolen identities to meet men over the internet and then commit theft crimes in at least six other cases. Detectives are looking for more victims.
