A 17-year-old was recently charged with a number of severe felony offenses after allegedly firing nearly two dozen shots at a small group playing basketball. Gwinnett County police and emergency services were called to a basketball court located near an apartment complex. Five young men were playing basketball when they say a car pulled up on the street next to the court. They said they say the suspect, C.F., point a gun out of the rear right-hand window and started firing. Reports state that about 20 shots were fired in their direction as they scattered and ran for cover. The car sped off from the scene shortly afterwards. Only one of the five men was injured. That individual suffered a gunshot wound to the knee and was transported to the hospital in stable condition. The basketball players said they recognized two other individuals of the four or five occupants of the sedan that the suspect is alleged to have been in. The men who were fired at said they did not know why the suspect or the occupants of the car would want to shoot at them. C.F. was later taken into police custody and charged with a total of five felony charges for aggravated assault. He faces the possibility of serious penalties if he is found guilty of the charges against him. No other charges have been filed as yet. Speak with a skilled criminal defense lawyer if your son or daughter has been charged with a crime.
