Former Senator Fined for State Ethics Act Violation

Former Senator Robert Mellow is facing state and federal legal action in connection to alleged white collar crimes. He was recently under investigation by the Pennsylvania state Ethics Commission in regard to tax dollars that were inappropriately used by the former Senator while he was in office. It was alleged that Mr. Mellow had been using taxpayer dollars to pay rent on his district office but the rent was being paid to a company in which he held an ownership stake. The commission found that this was a violation of the 2007 state Ethics Act and has ordered him to pay $21,000 to the state. Former Senator also Faces Federal Charges for Conspiracy
Mr. Mellow will also be facing federal court for charges relating to illegal use of Senate-paid staffers. According to reports, the former Senator has chosen to plead guilty to the conspiracy charge in this instance.
