The arraignment for the man being charged with murder in connection to an apparent "car surfing" accident has been delayed recently so he can be assigned a public defendant. The incident occurred earlier this month around 5:00 in the morning when the defendant, 28-year-old L.R., was driving a SUV while two women "surfed" on the outside of the car in some manner. The two women were both in their mid 20s, 26-year-old A.M. and 25-year-old L.K. Details have not been released on what exactly happened next but somehow the two women ended up on the pavement with serious injuries. L.R. and another passenger transported A.M. and L.K. to a local hospital. A.M. died of severe head trauma soon after arriving at the hospital. L.K. survived her serious injuries and was recently released. L.R. was discovered to have been driving while intoxicated and driving with a suspended license. If you have been charged with a serious crime then it is absolutely crucial that you get the help of an experienced criminal defense lawyer immediately to fight the charges.
Man Charged with Multiple Felonies
Prosecutors came down hard on L.R. who has three prior DUI convictions. He has been charged with driving on a suspended / revoked driver's license, DUI causing serious bodily injury, DUI manslaughter and second degree murder. Police reports state that when L.R. and his companion first brought the two women into the hospital they said they found the girls on the pavement and did not admit to having any acquaintance with them. Investigators soon discovered that there was more to the story. If convicted of the charges against him, L.R. could receive a second strike on his record and 15 years to life in prison.
