Two men in their late 20s were arrested recently on suspicion of armed robbery and other charges. The incident happened a few days before the arrest when a 25-year-old man contacted authorities after being assaulted, bound and robbed in his home. The victim told police that he knew one of the men allegedly involved, A.M., and that the man had contacted him several times throughout the evening before the incident. A.M. reportedly told the victim that he wanted to meet him at his home that night. The victim arrived at his house at about 2:00 in the morning to find A.M. waiting for him there. The two were going into the victim's home when another man came up behind the victim and hit him several times on the head with a handgun. A.M. and the other man, J.P., allegedly forced their way into the home and bound the victim to a chair using duct tape. They then proceeded to steal a firearm, cash, electronics and other valuables. They left the victim bound but he was able to free himself and get the help of neighbors about 30 minutes after the robbery. Investigators tracked down A.M. and J.P. and took them into custody on suspicion of committing several serious crimes. They have both been charged with conspiracy, assault with intent to commit a felony, first degree robbery, larceny of a firearm and grand larceny (larceny over $1,500) and J.P. faces additional charges of use of a firearm while committing a violent crime, marijuana possession (subsequent to previous convictions for same offense), illegal possession of a firearm by a felon and receipt of stolen goods. Arrest reports state that the suspects had items on their persons that had been reported stolen during the home invasion days before.
