Teens Charged as Adults for Rape

A third teenaged minor was recently charged in a case involving the rape of an 18-year-old woman on New Year’s Eve. The incident occurred outside near a Chicago theater and allegedly involved three teen males, two 16-year-olds and a 15-year-old. Prosecutors on the case say that the three encountered the woman when she became separated from her friends. She was drunk and apparently in and out of consciousness. It is alleged that the three teens took turns carrying her to a remote location where there was less foot and car traffic. Apparently one passer-by had already confronted the group when they were carrying the girl near a busy intersection. Prosecutors argue that the most recently charged teen was the one that suggested they take the girl to a different location. Teens Face Serious Sexual Assault Charges
The two teens that were previously taken into custody were charged with robbery, kidnapping and aggravated criminal sexual assault earlier this month. The third teen was more recently charged with the same crimes. All three are being held on a $750,000 bail each. The penalties for these felony crimes could include substantial prison time if a conviction is obtained.
