A Zumba instructor at a seaside resort in Kennebunk, Maine, is sticking to the assertion that her studio does not double as a brothel for tourists and locals. According to ABC News, Alexis Wright, 29, and her former business partner, Mark Strong, 57, were both arrested and charged with prostitution and promoting prostitution in court this week. They both pleaded not guilty. The police say that the 29-year-old used her Zumba studio at the hotel to parade women and have sex with men in exchange for money. The police say that they have discovered videotaping of some of the encounters, because Wright would film for the men when they requested it. Strong, her partner, was charged with promoting prostitution and invasion of privacy because he allegedly set up a camera and connected it to the internet so that he could record clients without their knowledge.
Strong’s attorney says that he denies any involvement in the prostitution business, and that he simple loaned Wright money to start her Zumba studio. He also claims that she has already repaid that debt in full. The police say that they have more than 100 hours of video proving that the Zumba studio was used for other purposes and have discovered a client list with more than 100 names. On that list was the current mayor of the town, as well as many prominent local figures and attorneys in the area. The list of men who came to Wright for sex could be released to the public, because the judge on the case refused a motion to seal the list. Clients are now being interviewed by the police about their involvement. If you have been involved in a prostitution crime, you will want a criminal defense attorney on your side.
