Jealous Ex + Online Assassin = Murder Fail

Several news sources, including the Daily Mail from the United Kingdom, have reported on a bizarre case of a botched murder via hitmanforhire.com and stolen credit cards.

M.M., 28, of Allentown Pennsylvania, wanted to have her ex-boyfriend’s new girlfriend, A.R., of Los Angeles, California, murdered.  And, she wanted to pay E.A.D. via his www.hitmanforhire.net website, $37,000 to do it.

The advertisement on the website, to induce customers to use their services, reads “Whether you are trying to put an end to a domestic dispute or eliminate your business competitors, we have the solution for you. Assassinations are the most practical solutions to common problems. Thanks to the Internet, ordering a hit has never been easier. We manage a network of freelance assassins, available to kill at a moment's notice.”

M.M. stands accused of allegedly paying E.A.D. a deposit of $19,000 – using three stolen credit cards on the website PayPal.

But her payment never went through.  PayPal didn’t transfer money to E.A.D..

E.A.D., a poker dealer at the Bellagio casino in Las Vegas, took it upon himself to travel to Los Angeles anyway.  Once there, under the alias “Tony Luciano”, he met with A.R. and told her of M.M.’s plan.

Allegedly E.A.D. first contacted A.R. in 2006.  He pretended that he was a client in need of having his house refinanced.   He came to her office, with his wife T.E. pretending to be an assistant, and then told A.R., “Somebody wants your head. Somebody wants you killed and they hate you a lot.”

He then offered to double cross M.M. and kill her instead.  All A.R. had to do was to pay the balance that M.M. owed for the murder.

He also claimed that the reason for the switch in targets was personal: A.R. reminded him of his own daughter.

In the few days that E.A.D. gave A.R. to raise the cash she, instead, contacted authorities.  The FBI set up a wiretap that would take place during their next telephone call.

During the call E.A.D. told A.R. that she needed to raise $20,000.  When she asked if someone else would come to murder her, E.A.D. allegedly said, “Only 700 people in the world work as hit men, and my father, Michael Luciano, is boss over all of them. If any of them got a contract on you, my father would know, and therefore, so would you.”

E.A.D. and Engle flew to Ireland when they completed with the call.  They were planning on attempting another double-cross style assassination there.   As of 2008 E.A.D. has been in jail in Ireland, serving a 6-year sentence for that failed plot.

M.M. has since been arrested in Jersey City, New Jersey, and transferred to Allentown Pennsylvania.  Once in Pennsylvania, M.M. was charged with conspiracy, identity theft and other counts.

Rumors, of turning this real-life drama into a film, have yet been confirmed.

If you have been charged with a crime, contact a criminal defense attorney as soon as possible to help you with your case.
