A teenager has accused two men of felonious crimes, including burning his body with a heated knife and gluing his lips shut, after the youth was allegedly kidnapped. The New Hampshire Union Leader, in Manchester, reported the news on July 15.
The men, I.B., 19, and Y.L., 25, both of Manchester, were arraigned on July 15 in Manchester District Court.
I.B. entered a plea of not guilty to felony kidnapping, criminal threatening and both first, and second, degree
assault.
Y.L. also pleaded not guilty to charges of assisting - in holding down the 15 year-old boy - and videotaping the incident.
Each was ordered held on $100,000 bail. The bail amount, requested by police prosecutor Detective S.M., is considered high.
Detective S.M. told the judge, "In the one and a half years I've been doing this, this is the most disturbing set of facts I've seen."
Just after midnight on July 15 police were called to the Kelley Falls public housing project. Officers set a perimeter around the building, on Kimball Street on the West Side, then apprehended the two suspects as they tried to exit using a back door.
A police dog was used to find the victim. The boy was located under a bed in the apartment, striped of his clothing.
The boy, who appeared to be screaming, was soundless as his lips had been allegedly glued together. The police report read that he was "attempting to scream but his mouth wouldn't open."
Due to the injuries the officers had him transported him to Catholic Medical Center. Police attempted to interview him from the hospital later that evening.
He told police that he knew I.B. and that Y.L. wanted to speak to him.
He was just "hanging out" with the pair in I.B.'s apartment when he was told to stay seated in the living room.
The youth, whose name has not been released as he is a minor, stated that Y.L. locked the door and began filming him with "an iPod".
The police report goes on to state that I.B. came into the living room with items that included a butcher knife, corkscrew and wrench. He then ordered the boy to remove his clothing and to lie down.
I.B. proceeded to burn the child's abdomen with a rubber glove.
Police located all of the items mentioned at the scene. Only the iPod's location isn't mentioned in the report.
The incident is alleged to be due to I.B. believing that the boy was "a snitch."
The boy was also subjected to having paper stuffed up his nostrils and then lit, his lips were glued together and his shoulders cut with a heated knife blade.
The boy's grandmother, becoming alarmed at the amount of time her grandson had been in the older men's apartment, twice appeared at their door to question his whereabouts. Allegedly, at her second approach, the boy was ordered under a bed and the woman was invited in to look and didn't see him.
The teen recalled nothing further until the police dog located him.
I.B. has prior criminal charges for disorderly conduct and trespassing.
