Man Released After Serving Time for Crimes He Did Not Commit

A man who served more than thirty years in prison for sex crimes he didn't come was finally exonerated this week in Texas. Cornelius Adams had originally been convicted of rape, kidnapping and robbery, had already been released on parole but had worked hard to clear his name of the crimes.

Dupree, 51, was declared "free to go" by State District Judge Don Adams after reviewing the DNA evidence connected to the crimes. Although he is glad to have his innocence proven, he said that "words really won't make up for what I have lost. I lost both of my parents. I just feel that the system needs to be fixed."

It seems now that the rape victim misidentified Depree and another man convicted of helping him, Anthony Massingill, from a photo lineup.

If you have been charged with a serious sex crime, the best thing you can do is hire a criminal defense lawyer who practices law in your state of residence.
