A man accused of killing ten victims over a 20-year period faces some serious jail time now that he is going to court.
The 58 year old suspect has an 11-count indictment filed against him by the Los Angeles District Attorney Steve Cooley. These include ten counts of murder and one count of attempted murder for an 11th victim that was attacked but survived. Responding to queries about the case, Cooley replied that "The families of the victims should be accorded timely resolution of the allegations of the murders of their loved ones."
Although most cases would be delayed due to the lengthy process of the preliminary hearing, this case has been pushed directly to trial, according to spokeswoman Sandi Gibbons.
The victims were all females between the ages of 14 and 36 who lost their lives from August 1985 to January 2007. A majority of the bodies were found in alleyways in South Los Angeles.
