In Los Angeles, police report that a used car dealer has been arrested and will now be heading to prison after being charged with fraud. They say that while the man, 34 year old Ruben Hernandez, was in police custody, he attempted to put a voodoo hex on the prosecutors that were working on his case.
On Wednesday, Hernandez was sentenced to twelve years of prison after being found guilty of fraud. Prosecutors said that Hernandez used falsified Social Security information and bank statements to illegally buy properties. Hernandez was a fugitive for over a year before his arrest in February 2009.
When police officers searched Hernandez's home, they say that they found a shrine that had voodoo dolls. They also say that written on the dolls were the case numbers and names of the prosecutors handling Hernandez's legal matters.
In May, Hernandez was convicted for four counts of filing a false application as well as three counts of grand theft.
