Former Treasurer Charged with Theft

A former deputy treasurer from Illinois has been sentenced in a theft matter. Brenda Pickett pleaded guilty to felony theft and official misconduct after stealing more than $175,000 during her time as treasurer. She will now spend six months in jail and four years on probation, along with repaying the money. Pickett has stated that she used the money to help her son fight his drug addiction and to bail him out of jail.
