Illinois Band Teacher Pleads Guilty to Sexual Assault

Illinois - this week, a former band teacher from Alton High School pled guilty to charges of sexual assault. The band teacher, 36 year old Matthew Lang, was charged with a sexual offense after he allegedly had consensual sex with a high school aged girl that was in the band.
Lang pled guilty inside of an Edwardsville courtroom. Now that he has pled guilty, he faces a sentence of 4 - 15 years imprisonment. Due to his plea, prosecutors have considered dropping another criminal count, as well as two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.
According to local authorities, Lang has sex with the 16 year old girl inside of the school and also at other locations throughout 2009.
After his arrest, Lang resigned from his position as music department chair and band director at Alton High School. He is expected to be sentenced in upcoming months.
