Theft by Employees at Safeway

Two Washington residents are dealing with felony theft charges after writing and accepting bad checks at a Safeway store. One of the two involved was a checker at Safeway and would accept bad checks written from her roommate who was using the checks to purchase gift cards. The checker was questioned by the King County Sheriff’s Office and reportedly did not deny any of the allegations, but did not believe that she had done anything wrong. Her associate in the crime has evaded authorities and it is not believed that both defendants have fled to Portland. They are being charged with first-degree organized retail theft.
