New York Superintendent Stole $1.2 Million Released from Prison

Garden City, New York - the Associated Press is reporting that Frank Tassone, a former New York school superintendent, is being released from prison.  The AP says that Tassone stole $1.2 million from a Long Island school district and later admitted to theft crime charges.

Originally, Frank Tassone was sentenced with a prison term of 4 to 12 years.  However, he was released for good behavior this afternoon.

In 2006, 5 other people and Tassone pled guilty to theft crime charges for stealing from the Roslyn school district, which is 20 miles east of Manhattan, New York.

According to the state's prosecutors, Tassone and the other parties involved used the stolen money to fund their lavish lifestyles, which included:  Concorde flights for Birtish vacations, home mortgages, vacations at resorts, furniture and even jewelry.

Aside from having to serve time in prison, the suspects were ordered to pay restitution.
