Police in Macomb County, Michigan were able to track down and arrest a man they believe tried to dump a laptop computer containing child pornography in a wooded area.
Macomb County Sheriff's deputies were able to track the laptop to 45-year-old Alan E. Erickson of Sterling Heights, Michigan after receiving a tip from a resident who saw Erickson take a bag out of the trunk of his car and head into the woods.
Police searched the area and found the bag, which contained the laptop. Police found child pornography on the computer, however, a spokesperson for the sheriff's department would not comment about the pictures or how Erickson obtained them.
Erickson was arrested and charged with five counts of possession of child sexually abusive material and one count of using a computer to commit a crime. He still remains in police custody at the Macomb County jail. If convicted of the charges he could face incarceration in state prison, mandatory registration as a sex offender, large fines, probation, and more.
