Drug Trafficking Reported in South Carolina

In Rockhill, SC, police report that three men have been charged with drug trafficking.  They say that the three men had trafficked approximately $200,000 worth of cocaine in a Plaza Fiesta parking lot this past weekend.

The men, identified as Jesus Aguirre Romero (29), Fernando Almazon Botello (27) and Jorge Hernandez-Nunez (26) were arrested once they arrived at the parking lot with the narcotics last Friday.  Prior to their arrest, they were being investigated by the York County Multijurisdictional Task Force.

Police say that the suspects conspired to traffic around two kilograms of cocaine.   When the men were searched by officers, they were found to be in possession of 2,000 grams of cocaine, which would have had a street value of $200,000.  After searching the men's vehicles, police also found two guns along with the drugs.

Both Botello and Romero were charged with drug trafficking and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.  Hernandez-Nunex was charged with more criminal offenses than the other two men.  His charges included:  trafficking cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm during commission of a violent crime.  Hernandez-Nunez is a prior drug crime offender according to his criminal record.

The men were all denied bail.  They will remain in police custody until December 1, 2009.
