A school bus attendant in Palm Beach County, Florida has been convicted of child neglect after she stood by while a 14-year-old student raped a pre-schooler.
Grenisha Williams saw the boy kneeling on the bus floor and kissing the three-year-old girl's neck. Williams approached the boy, asked him what he was doing, and told him to move to another seat. The boy refused to move and Williams walked away, but told police that she kept an eye on him. But Williams never questioned the boy further, and permitted him to get off at his stop.
When the girl was questioned about the incident later, she told police the boy had touched her. While reviewing the bus' surveillance tape, the bus supervisors saw the boy sexually assaulting the girl, which was so disturbing it could not be disclosed to the public.
Williams told police she just panicked and did not know what to do. The bus driver, Laverne Sellers, told the police she was unaware of the incident until she was later informed by Williams. Both Williams and Sellers were fired from their jobs.
The boy, who later admitted to sexually assaulting the girl, was charged with felony
sexual battery. His case is still pending.
