A New Jersey man and his father have been charged in connection with the murder of their family member, whose body has yet to be found.
Gerald Toscano, 47, and his son Peter Toscano, 20, have been charged with the murder of their nephew/cousin Jordan Voorhees, 22, who was living in their home for the past six months.
Essex County prosecutors claim that Peter Toscano opened fire on Voorhees, killing him in their home. According to prosecutors, Gerald Toscano assisted his son in removing Voorhees' body. Detectives believe the two men dumped Voorhees into nearby marshes.
Detectives from the New Jersey state police, Belleville Police Department, Kearny Police Department, Bergen County Sheriff's Office, and the Essex County Prosecutor's Homicide Squad have been searching for the body for weeks, but have yet to find the remains.
After a weapon was discovered in the Toscano's home that was believed to have been used during the shooting, the two men were arrested and charged for their involvement in the crime.
Peter Toscano has also been charged with
murder,
conspiracy to murder, unlawful disturbing/concealing of human remains, hindering apprehension or prosecution,
obstructing the administration of law, tampering with physical evidence, and two
weapons offenses. Gerald Toscano faces the same charges, except for murder and charges relating to weapons offenses.
While Gerald Toscano is out on $75,000 bail, Peter Toscano is currently in custody at Essex County Jail in lieu of $750,000 bail.
