Less than a week ago, police in the state of Pennsylvania reported that they arrested an Amish man for
driving under the influence (DUI). According to police, the man had fallen asleep while operating a slow-moving horse and buggy.
When police approached the horse and buggy, they saw that the man, Elmer Stoltzfoos Fisher, was slumped over. They said that the man caught their attention because his horse had gone astray.
Police say that the incident occurred on North Ronks Road in East Lampeter. Officers claim that they had to pound on the buggy door to wake the sleeping Amish man. Once Fisher opened the door, officers claim that he smelled of alcohol, had bloodshot eyes and appeared intoxicated.
They asked Fisher to consent to a breath test. His result was .18% which is well over the state's legal limit of 0.08%.
