Minnesota Woman Pleads Guilty to Mail Theft

In Minnesota, a former employee of the Unites States Postal Service recently pled guilty to one count of mail theft.  The U.S. Attorney's Office released reports of the theft crime to the public.

The former employee, 49 year old Tammie J. Desomma, entered her plea on December 11th in a federal court in Minneapolis.  In her plea agreement, Desomma admitted that she had taken 7 gift cards from a victim's mail on May 16, 2008 while employed at the United States Postal Service's Processing and Distribution facility, which is located in St. Cloud, Minnesota. 

The day after she stole the gift cards, she purchased items at Coborn's.

Desomma faces a maximum of 5 years imprisonment.  She will be sentenced at a later date by Judge David Doty.
