Stiletto Stabbing Murder Trial Begins in Houston

According to ABC News, a Houston woman has been accused with stabbing her boyfriend in the face with her high heeled shoe at least 25 times. The woman claims that she was defending herself from being abused by her boyfriend, who allegedly harmed her on multiple occasions.

The opening arguments for this highly covered case began today. The woman with the initials A.T. is currently on trial for the death of her boyfriend, a doctor who was involved in an on-again, off-again relationship with the defendant. The prosecution told jurors today of the couples contentious relationship. The defendant allegedly had a history of getting angry with her wayfaring boyfriend. The prosecution alleges that the defendant ended her boyfriend's life one day when she sat on him and then struck him at least 25 times in the face with the heel of her stiletto shoe. The gruesome and violent death occurred in June of 2013.

The police testify that A.T. called 911 to report injuries. When the police arrived at the victim's apartment, A.T. answered the door. She was covered in blood. The police found the victim in a hallway with A.T.'s blood-covered stiletto right next to his body. The victim had about 10 puncture wounds to the head, and multiple other wounds along his face, arms, and neck.

The police believe that the couple got into a fight at a nightclub that night after another man offered to buy A.T. a drink. Allegedly, the fight continued between the feuding couple until they arrived at the victim's apartment. Prosecutors allege that the defendant then tried to stop the victim from breathing by applying pressure to his neck.

Investigators then believe that the victim grabbed A.T. and they began wrestling on the ground. He allegedly rolled on top of A.T. and grabbed her throat so that she could not breathe. She claims that to defend herself, she flipped over on top of her boyfriend and began to hit him with the heel.

According to the defense, the stiletto heel is the tell-tale evidence in the case. The woman allegedly chose the heel because it was right there, and could be used as a defense weapon. The fact that she used such an unconventional weapon to hurt her boyfriend shows that she was doing this out of self-defense, and not out of malice. The defense claims that she had to use the heel because that was all that she had at the moment, and she was trying to preserve her own life.
