Fraud is considered a category of theft which includes a wide range of white collar crimes such as:
- Credit card fraud
- Check fraud
- Mail fraud
- Wire fraud
- Mortgage fraud
- Social security fraud
- Bank fraud
In California, fraud offenses are called "wobblers," which means they can be charged as either felonies or misdemeanors depending on the nature of the crime. When you are charged with fraud, the possibility of being convicted of a felony is very high and representation from a skilled Orange County fraud attorney is vital to the outcome of your case. If you are convicted of a felony, you face incarceration in a state prison, fines, possible restitution, probation or parole and a permanent criminal record which will harm your future employment opportunities.
