- Stealing checks and using peoples' account information for personal use

- Taking personal data from computers, servers, mobile phones, USB memory sticks or hard drives that have been abandoned, sold or transferred to another
- Illegally skimming information from credit or bank cards with card reader devices or creating an illegal duplicate of a card (cloning)
- Computer hacking to gain personal data
- Stealing data from a company while having insider access as an IT professional
- Infiltrating organizations with the intent of stealing quantities of personal information kept in records or data bases.
