Born and raised in New York City, Brian Smith has had an accomplished legal career, beginning as a prosecutor in Brooklyn, then as a defense attorney in Manhattan, and now as a criminal defense attorney in Las Vegas.
Mr. Smith received his law degree from Fordham University School of Law, and subsequently accepted a position as an assistant district attorney in Brooklyn, New York. During his tenure as a prosecutor, Mr. Smith successfully prosecuted a wide range of criminal offenses, and was assigned to the Domestic Violence Bureau for a significant part of his time with the office.
Mr. Smith went on to establish his own criminal defense practice in Manhattan, where he represented both private and court appointed defendants in all criminal matters, with an emphasis on drug trafficking and violent felonies. Mr. Smith represented many defendants who were facing life imprisonment in narcotics cases under New York's Rockefeller drug laws. His impressive win-loss ratio in criminal trials is the result of his experience, knowledge, and ability to evaluate a case with a prosecutor's eye, while zealously and tirelessly advocating for the rights of his clients.
Mr. Smith became licensed to practice law in Nevada in 2008, and moved to Las Vegas to open his criminal defense practice. He is licensed to practice before all federal and state courts in the State of Nevada. He is also licensed to practice in New York and Washington State.
