Criminal Threats
The offense formerly known as terroristic threats is now called criminal threats and can be classified as either a misdemeanor or a felony, depending on the details of the case. This crime is committed when one person threatens to harm or kill another person, causing the victim or their immediate family to fear for their safety. It is possible for a defendant to be found guilty of making criminal threats even if they had no intention of carrying out the threat, as long as the alleged victim had a reasonable belief that their safety was at risk.
