The bigger the city, the more accidents one can expect including hit and run accidents. It is considered a serious offense to leave the scene of an accident whether or not the accident was your fault. If you do leave the scene, it is considered a hit and run and is a criminal offense. Whether you are charged with a misdemeanor or felony is dependent upon how much property damage and injury occurred.
Recent Hit and Run Accidents
Just three months ago, a 21-year-old Reno, Nevada resident was charged with a hit and run after speeding through a construction barricade and causing a worker to receive 3rd degree burns on his face. He was splashed with 400 degree thermo plastic while re-striping a crosswalk when the girl's car hit the re-striping vehicle and was in critical condition. The young woman was found parked in front of her home less than three miles away from the accident after a police search and charged her with felony hit and run. She posted a $10,410 bail and was freed from jail, awaiting appearance in court.
