Identity Theft Causes Loss of $183,000

In Hyde Park, an elderly woman reports that she lost thousands of dollars due to identity theft. Now, police in the city of Los Angeles are conducting investigations to see how the theft occurred.
The victim, who is 79 years of age, said that someone used her identity to open an account with Vanguard Investments. The thief then transferred money from the woman's bank account into the newly opened Vanguard account, causing the woman to lose a total of $183,000.
Investigators have told the woman that there is a slight chance that she may be able to recover the funds that were stolen from her account and have also said that they will continue to look into the matter.
